EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — The Snohomish County, Wash., sheriff’s office says a county jail inmate accused of stabbing his lawyer in the neck with a pencil earlier this week is accused of doing the same thing to a new lawyer.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover says the lawyer stabbed Friday was checked by a nurse and continued his workday. The lawyer stabbed Monday was not seriously hurt either. In both cases, the inmate reportedly used small jailhouse pencils, similar to golf pencils.
The new lawyer had been assigned Thursday.
KIRO-TV reported the inmate was in jail, attending a court hearing via video link, when Friday’s stabbing occurred.
The Daily Herald says Friday’s hearing involved a motion to stay action in the inmate’s criminal cases so he can receive a mental health evaluation.
Hover says he’ll likely be in a restraint chair in any future court appearances.
