SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn has hired the advocacy director of the Cascade Bicycle Club, David Hiller, to a new position with the city paying $95,000 a year.
The mayor’s spokesman, Aaron Pickus, says Hiller will work on transportation and other issues.
KOMO reports the hiring comes as the mayor is asking city departments to cut another 3-to-8 percent in spending. Pickus says the mayor’s office is “living within its means” and has shrunk its budget by 6 percent this year.
Mayor McGinn is known a regular bicycle commuter and biking advocate.
