Toronto wins National Lacrossse League title

TORONTO (AP) — Garrett Billings and Kasey Beirnes led Toronto to the National Lacrossse League title Sunday, scoring two goals each in the Rock’s 8-7 victory over the Washington Stealth.

Rob Hellyer, Blaine Manning, Glen Bryan and Stephan Leblanc also scored for Toronto and 41-year-old Bob Watson was selected the MVP in his final game before retiring.

Lewis Ratcliff had three goals for the Stealth and Rhys Duch, Jeff Zywicki, Cliff Smith and Paul Rabil also scored. Washington rallied from a 7-2 halftime deficit to set up the tight finish.

Toronto won the title title for the sixth time in the franchise’s 14-year history. Last year. Washington rallied to beat Toronto 15-11 in the final.
