MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota reliever Jose Mijares’ pitching elbow is sore, and Twins manager Ron Gardenhire says the team will likely put the left-hander on the disabled list.

Mijares is one of two left-handed relievers in the Twins bullpen. He’s tied for the team lead with 18 appearances in 37 games this season. He is 0-0 with a 5.40 ERA in 35 2-3 innings. Mijares has seen action primarily in the seventh and eighth innings.

Mijares pitched in the 11th inning of the Twins’ loss to Toronto on Saturday, facing four batters without recording an out.

Gardenhire said Sunday the team would likely make a roster move after Sunday afternoon’s game against Toronto.

With Mijares ailing, Glen Perkins is the only healthy left-hander in the Twins bullpen. Perkins, however, has pitched two consecutive games and three of the past four.
