LOS ANGELES (AP) — People magazine reports that Maria Shriver has broken her silence on husband Arnold Schwarzenegger’s admission that he fathered a child by a member of his household staff.

She says in a statement that this is “a painful and heartbreaking time.”

Shriver goes on to say that as a mother, she is concerned for the children and she asks for compassion, respect and privacy as she tries to rebuild her family’s lives.
