NEW YORK (AP) — The game between the Florida Marlins and New York Mets scheduled for Tuesday night has been postponed because of rain.

The game was called about two hours before it was set to begin. Rain has been falling in the New York area for several days and more is in the forecast.

There have been 28 postponements in the majors this season, including the Pittsburgh at Washington washout earlier Tuesday. Last year, there were a total of 21 all season.

The Mets are home Wednesday night against Washington and the Marlins host the Chicago Cubs.
