Solar panels for Qwest Field Event Center

SEATTLE (AP) — The operator of the Qwest Field Events Center in Seattle says it will cover most of the roof — 2.5 acres — this summer with solar panels.

The First and Goal company, which includes the Seattle Seahawks and Sounders, says in addition to generating electricity, the solar panels will reduce the need for cooling the events center.

The solar panels are built by the Solyndra company of Fremont, Calif., and will be installed by the McKinstry energy services firm in Seattle.
