PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) — A Prineville company threatened by the housing market bust has adapted by diversifying into new products.

The Bulletin newspaper in Bend reports that Contact Industries developed some high-tech products such as veneer-wrapped aluminum ceiling panels, soffits and window casings.

The new products helped Contact Industries weather the housing market collapse and preserve 222 jobs in Prineville.

Over the past five years, Contact Industries has developed more than 100 new products, mostly to meet architectural specifications for certain projects.
