PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesman says that a woman in her late teens died Wednesday after her vehicle was struck by a train near the Oregon-California border.

BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas says that the crash happened around 3 p.m. near Homestead Stronghold, Calif. He says the train was going from California to Klamath Falls, Ore.

Melonas says an investigation was launched into the accident. Three trains were delayed because of it, but the line was expected to open late Wednesday.

The woman’s exact age or hometown were not readily available.
