The Clark County Strong Teens Against Substance Hazards and Abuse peer education program is recruiting young people to fill vacant positions for the 2011-12 program year.

Peer educators, ages 12 through 19, address alcohol and drug issues among youth in Clark County, and promote awareness through outreach and educational programs.

The group of 20 peer educators serve a one-year term and commit to attending evening meetings on the first and third Mondays of each month.

Representatives include those who have never used drugs or alcohol, those with past experimentation or use, and those who have completed treatment and are now in recovery.

Applications, which are available at http://www.clark.wa.gov/youth-family/prevention.html, are due by June 3.

Contact peer education coordinator Angela Zahas at 397-2130, ext. 5841, or angela.zahas@clark.wa.gov.
