Arizona hires New Orleans head coach as assistant

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona has hired University of New Orleans head basketball coach Joe Pasternack as an assistant coach.

The move was announced Thursday by Wildcats coach Sean Miller.

The 34-year-old Pasternack is leaving a Privateers program that is being demoted from Division I to Division II next season.

He was hired by New Orleans in July 2007 and led the school to a 19-win season in 2007-08.

Pasternack was an administrator and assistant coach at the University of California from 2000-07.
