LOS ANGELES (AP) — The San Francisco Giants placed third baseman Mark DeRosa on the 15-day disabled list Thursday because of a strained left wrist and recalled infielder Emmanuel Burris from Triple-A Fresno.
DeRosa will be making his second trip to the DL this season. He was injured in the fourth inning of the Giants’ 8-5 win on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium, when he checked his swing on a pitch in the dirt from Clayton Kershaw. Mike Fontenot finished the at-bat and drew a bases-loaded walk after inheriting a 2-2 count.
DeRosa is batting .162 in 37 games with three RBIs and is hitless in his last 23 at-bats — a drought that began before he went on the DL on April 28 because of left wrist inflammation. He underwent surgery on the wrist back on July 1.
