ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) — A judge has upheld the right of the Clatsop County Board of Commissioners to reject a proposed liquefied natural gas pipeline project.

The Daily Astorian reports that a previous county board had approved the pipeline application by a group called Oregon LNG last year.

But when three new commissioners took office in January, they decided to hear the issue again. They came to a different conclusion and denied the application.

Oregon Pipeline LLC, part of Oregon LNG, challenged the rejection, saying the county missed the legal deadline to take action on the application.

But a Clatsop County Circuit Court judge ruled this week the board had the right to reject the pipeline application.

Another liquefied gas project proposed in Coos Bay is still moving forward.
