SELAH, Wash. (AP) — The Yakima County sheriff’s office says a SWAT team killed a man who fired at officers Wednesday night at Selah.
Officers had responded to 911 calls about 10 p.m. that a man was shooting at people in a house.
The suspect fired at the first officers to arrive and at officers who arrived with the SWAT team.
The sheriff’s office says that after brief negotiations the man attempted to drive away. A SWAT officer in his path fired at the driver, and the car drove onto the lawn. The man was attempting to get out of the car with a gun when he was shot by a SWAT sniper.
