GRANDVIEW, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say a couple on their way to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary died in a head-on collision that injured six others near Grandview.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports that two people remained hospitalized at Sunnyside Community Hospital Sunday morning. They were 44-year-old Maria D. Arreguin, of Grandview, and 12-year-old Reagan Colson, of Toppenish.

The Saturday afternoon collision killed 77-year-old Abelino Ayala Saucedo and 76-year-old Margarita Saucedo, both of Grandview. The two died at the scene.

The Washington State Patrol says the accident happened around 1:30 p.m. when the car driven by Arreguin crossed the centerline on Forsell Road and struck an SUV head-on.

Four others in the SUV were treated and released from area hospitals Saturday. They are from Toppenish.
