CLEVELAND (AP) — Boston third baseman Kevin Youkilis was a late scratch for the series finale against Cleveland because of a sore left hand.

Youkilis hurt his hand diving and knocking down a grounder in the seventh inning of Tuesday night’s win by the Red Sox. Manager Terry Francona changed the lineup about an hour before Wednesday’s first pitch. Drew Sutton took Youkilis’ spot in the field.

A team spokesman did not know if Youkilis was being examined by a doctor.

Also, outfielder J.D. Drew is sitting with a strained right hamstring he hurt catching a ball in foul territory in the ninth inning Tuesday night.

Francona doesn’t think Drew’s injury is serious, but decided to rest Drew, batting .232 with three homers and 10 RBIs.

Mike Cameron started in right for Drew.
