CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne will miss a fifth straight week of racing as Roush Fenway Racing holds him out from Charlotte Motor Speedway for precautionary reasons.

Bayne has been sidelined by what doctors have termed an inflammatory condition. The team said Wednesday he’ll make his return next week in the Nationwide Series race at Chicagoland Speedway.

Bayne has tested over the last two weeks, but the team did not want him to race at Charlotte because it would have been 900 miles over two days. The Nationwide Series race on Saturday is 300 miles, and Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 is the longest race on the NASCAR schedule.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will make his Sprint Cup Series debut in Bayne’s place. He’ll drive for Wood Brothers Racing.

Matt Kenseth will replace Bayne in the Nationwide race.
