MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Joe Mauer is scheduled to DH in extended spring training on Wednesday in what will be his first game action since the Minnesota All-Star catcher went on the disabled list on April 12.

The Twins say Mauer will get three or four at-bats in Fort Myers, Fla. The team will wait to see how he reacts before setting a plan to get him back in the big leagues.

Manager Ron Gardenhire says there is a tentative target date set for his return, but he declined to reveal it. The $184 million catcher has been on the disabled list with bilateral leg weakness since the first week of the season.

The Twins also say infielder Tsuyoshi Nishioka will do some sliding drills on Thursday to test his broken left leg.
