CHICAGO (AP) — Mets starter R.A. Dickey left the game against the Chicago Cubs in the bottom of the third inning because of pain in right heel on Thursday.

After Chicago’s Carlos Zambrano reached on a two-out single, Kosuke Fukudome hit a grounder to second base. First baseman Daniel Murphy came off the bag in pursuit of the ball, and Dickey ran over to cover first base.

Dickey stumbled, fell and remained on the ground for several minutes as the Mets’ training staff ran out to check on him.

Dickey eventually limped off the field and went down the dugout steps. He was replaced on the mound by reliever Pedro Beato.
