Grays Harbor Paper closing Hoquiam mill

HOQUIAM, Wash. (AP) — Grays Harbor Paper is shutting down its Hoquiam mill.

President Patrick Quigg says the high price of materials, lower than expected sales, and cash flow considerations are the main reasons for Thursday’s shutdown.

Quigg tells KXRO a small support crew will maintain the facility and sell remaining inventory.

The mill has operated for 18 years. It employs more than 200 people and provides a significant source of income in several areas, including business taxes to the city of Hoquiam and water fees for the city of Aberdeen.
