ZURICH (AP) — FIFA will investigate its president in a widening bribery scandal.

FIFA says Sepp Blatter must submit a statement by Saturday and attend an ethics committee hearing on Sunday.

Blatter’s election rival, Mohamed bin Hammam, requested Thursday that FIFA investigate both candidates in the affair.

Bin Hammam claims Blatter broke ethics rules by not reporting apparent corruption attempts.

The FIFA election is scheduled for next Wednesday.
