Pirates 3B Pearce leaves game with sore calf

CHICAGO (AP) — Pirates’ third baseman Steve Pearce has left Pittsburgh’s game against the Chicago Cubs in the fourth inning with a sore right calf.

Pearce hit a two-run single in Pittsburgh’s five-run fourth inning Saturday. He was then replaced in the bottom of the inning by Brandon Wood.

Pittsburgh has another injured third baseman. Pedro Alvarez is on the DL with a right quadriceps strain.
