The American Red Cross is encouraging residents to salute veterans by donating blood on Memorial Day.

The blood drive is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at E.B. Hamilton Hall, also known as the old Red Cross building, 605 Barnes St. All donors will receive a commemorative Memorial Day pin and Red Cross T-shirt, as well as a coupon for a free Krispy Kreme doughnut and coffee.

During the drive, donors can learn the history behind the Red Cross building, which the American Red Cross was authorized to construct following the nation’s entry into World War I.

To schedule an appointment or for more information, contact Darren Goan at 989-2921 or goanda@usa.redcross.org.
