DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Tigers recalled left-handed starter Andy Oliver from Triple-A Toledo after Friday night’s 6-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox.

The move was expected, as Oliver will take over Phil Coke’s spot in the rotation while he is on the disabled list with an ankle injury. Oliver will start Saturday against Boston.

Oliver, Detroit’s second-round draft pick in 2009, went 0-4 with a 7.36 ERA in five starts for the Tigers last season.

The Tigers optioned reliever Ryan Perry to Toledo. Perry has a 12.19 ERA in 13 appearances this season.
