RENO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say they’ve found the wreckage of a small plane that had been missing since it departed Saturday from an Oregon airport with three people on board.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the Washoe County, Nev., sheriff’s office confirmed that the Cessna 172 was found Tuesday evening about 25 miles north of Reno. The sheriff’s office says three people were found dead in the plane, which crashed at an elevation of 7,000 feet in steep terrain.
Gregor says the plane left Roseburg, Ore., en route to Susanville, Calif., at about 3 p.m. Saturday. A relative reported it overdue when it failed to arrive in Susanville.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA will investigate the crash.
