SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Oregon Supreme Court Justice Robert “Skip” Durham says he will retire when his term expires after the 2012 election.

Durham was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1994 and is the Court’s longest-serving justice. His announcement comes less than three weeks after Chief Justice Paul De Muniz announced his own retirement.

The departures of Durham and De Muniz will mean a rare election with two open judgeships for the state’s highest court.

A court spokesman says Durham declines further comment.
