BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — A Romanian soccer player has been released from the hospital after a fan punched him and broke his cheekbone during a game.

Steaua Bucharest defender George Galamaz was treated for 15 hours at The Military Hospital in Bucharest and released late Monday. His team says he will be sidelined 45 days.

Dragos Petrut Enache was charged with committing a violent act and disturbing public order. He was ordered jailed for 29 days pending trial. After Galamaz was hit, teammates began beating the fan before security staff whisked him away. Two players received red cards.

The game between Petrolul Ploiesti and visiting Steaua was later abandoned in the first half after home fans threw flares onto the field. Steaua was leading 2-0.
