VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — The first rafter on the lower White Salmon River after the Condit Dam breach found it’s full of woody debris and shifting sediment.
Mark Zoller of Zoller’s Outdoor Odyssey was hired to go down the river Wednesday to help study the effects of the Oct. 26 breaching.
He told The Columbian (http://bit.ly/tdzDo5 ) the river is dangerous.
The three miles of the river between the dam and the Columbia River are closed to fishing and rafting. The Lower White Salmon probably won’t be reopened until after the entire dam is removed, perhaps late next year.
