HELSINKI (AP) — Organizers have canceled this year’s World Cup skiing event in northern Finland because of unusually warm weather.
A statement on the event’s website Thursday said that the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup stop scheduled for Nov. 11-13 has been called off as meteorologists say that no cold fronts are expected in the region in the coming days.
The statement said that there was no snow cover in Finland at the end of October, “although it ought to reach the middle and north of Lapland by this time of the year.”
