Little runs for 153 yards for Gardner-Webb

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) — Kenny Little ran for 153 yards and two touchdowns, Ricky Rhodes added 114 yards rushing and Gardner-Webb beat Virginia State 34-13 on Thursday night for its third straight victory.

Little had a 9-yard scoring run in the first quarter and a 72-yarder in the fourth for the Runnin’ Bulldogs (4-6, 2-2 Big South). Chandler Browing completed 11 of 18 passes for 116 yards.

Jared Battle was 25 of 48 for 282 yards and a touchdown for Division II Virginia State (5-5, 4-3 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association). He also threw three interceptions.

Gianni Olivas had two interceptions for Gardner-Webb, and Ivan Toomer had the other in the first night game at Spangler Stadium.
