Try this: A production with bite

The Evergreen High School Theatre Department presents “Night of the Living Dead,” based on the film by George Romero. The story follows a group being attacked by zombies while trapped in a rural farmhouse. This production features a deaf student in the role of a news anchor who will deliver her lines in American Sign Language. The Saturday show will be entirely ASL interpreted. Parental guidance suggested for children younger than 12.

When: 7 p.m. Saturday.

The zombie drama is one of several entertainment options this weekend. Others include a veterans parade and Shakespeare.

2. Blues guitar from area legend

Enjoy a night of blues music at the Old Liberty Theater from Terry Robb, one of the top acoustic guitarists on the West Coast. The Portland-based musician will give a solo performance, featuring his mix of country blues with string-band music.

When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

3. Parade to honor veterans

Honor Clark County veterans at the 25th annual Veterans Parade at Fort Vancouver. The parade begins with an Air Force flyover and 21-gun salute fired by cannons on the parade ground. Participating bands, military and veteran units, community organizations and Scout troops will march along Officers Row, pass Fort Vancouver and end at the Pearson Air Museum.

When: 11 a.m. Saturday.

4. Shakespeare across the river

Embrace classic tales of the Bard retold by 200 high school students, roughly half of them from Clark County, at the Portland Playhouse’s Fall Festival of Shakespeare. Ridgefield High School will perform “Twelfth Night,” the story of an unusual love triangle, Fort Vancouver High School will bring to the stage “Hamlet,” the tragic tale of the Prince of Denmark, and Hudson’s Bay High School presents “Taming of the Shrew,” a romantic comedy. The audience is encouraged to cheer and boo during the performances, and the plays have been edited down to run no more than 90 minutes apiece. Two plays are included with each ticket, performed one after the other.

When: Noon Saturday, Ridgefield High School and Fort Vancouver High School; 5 p.m. Saturday Hudson’s Bay High School and De La Salle North Catholic High School of Portland (with “Macbeth”); 2 p.m. Sunday Oregon high schools Franklin (with “Romeo and Juliet”) and Rex Putnam (with “Much Ado about Nothing”).

5. Attempting a ‘Tower Heist’

In this comedic caper, Josh Kovacs (Ben Stiller) for years has managed a New York luxury apartment building, home of Wall Street titan Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda), who is under house arrest after being caught stealing from his clients. Those clients include the apartment staff whose pensions he was entrusted to manage. Josh and his crew plan a heist to steal back their money, with the help of crook Slide (Eddie Murphy). “Tower Heist” is rated PG-13.
