A Vancouver man has been in the Coos County, Ore., Jail since Oct. 22 after being arrested there on suspicion of first-degree rape, unlawful penetration and sexual abuse, police say.
Cody James Dornbirer, 21, was arrested after police were called to student housing at Southwestern Oregon Community College, where he is a student, according to a bulletin from the Coos Bay Police Department. Police said they interviewed the alleged victim, Dornbirer and “numerous” other students, and conducted a search warrant at the scene of the alleged assault.
Dornbirer’s bail in Coos County is $1.25 million.
He also is the suspect in a rape that occurred in Vancouver in May, said Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp.
An official at the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office said Dornbirer was formally charged with second-degree rape on Oct. 28.
