Prep football: Lake Stevens 44, Heritage 7

Christian Gasca scored four touchdowns — two on punt returns — as the Vikings (10-0) beat Heritage in a Class 4A state preliminary round game.

Gasca return a punt 83 yards after Heritage’s opening drive was halted.

Heritage (3-7) trailed 14-0 with about two minutes left to go in the second quarter when the game got a way from the Timberwolves.

Jake Nelson threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Brady Pahukoa to give Lake Stevens a 21-0 lead. Then Gasca returned an interception 50 yards for a tocuhdown and later returned a punt 60 yards for another score. When Heritage was flagged for intentional grounding in the end zone with 1.2 seconds left in the half, Lake Stevens led 37-0.

Heritage avoided the shutout with a 37-yard touchdown pass play from Joey Cooper to Rajheem Carrie in the fourth quarter.
