EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Oregon farmers say a mild autumn has made up some for Oregon’s rainy spring.
The Register-Guard (http://bit.ly/rFjzwe ) reports the late season sunshine brought a happy ending to the 2011 growing season for most food crop farmers in the Willamette Valley.
Geoff Horning of the Agri-Business Council of Oregon says every crop was between two and four weeks behind this year because of the weather.
He says farmers were nervous but things turned out OK. Yields were down for a few crops, but higher prices made up for the lower yields.
