BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — A man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train at 9:40 a.m. Monday in Bellingham on Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks.

Spokesman Gus Melonas (mel-OWN’-us) says the man walked away from a business and residential area to the tracks in an area about 50 yards away from a crossing.

The fatality delayed Amtrak and two freight trains. Melonas says officials hope to reopen the track by noon.
