HUMPTULIPS, Wash. (AP) — Hoquiam police questioned a man who was acting strangely and driving a truck that didn’t belong to him, but they didn’t follow clues that could have led to a Humptulips home where a man was killed with a crossbow and his wife critically injured with a hatchet.

Police Chief Jeff Myers says the man didn’t tell them anything about hurting anyone, and the truck he was driving had not been reported stolen.

Myers told The Daily World (http://bit.ly/t99ebp ) officers talked the man into going to a crisis center Friday night. The chief says, “In retrospect, there were things the officers could have inquired about.”

A friend of the suspect found the victims, Ralph and June Aldrich, Saturday afternoon at their home.
