LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Former U.S. Sen. Bob Kerrey has joined a Seattle-based company that provides educational software and online services to administrators, teachers, parents and students.

The former Nebraska governor told the Lincoln Journal Star (http://bit.ly/vDCN4F ) that he will be executive chairman of Global Scholar, which he says will provide services “that have the potential to help our schools perform at a higher level.”

Kerrey says he will remain in New York and continue his work as president emeritus of New School University.

On Friday Kerrey will be in Lincoln to deliver a Veterans Day speech at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Kerrey won the Medal of Honor during his service as a U.S. Navy SEAL in what was South Vietnam.
