Battle Ground — A memorial for Officer Michael Molzahn, who died in July in an off-duty accident, was dedicated in a ceremony Oct. 28. The memorial is located at the Battle Ground Police Department, 507 S.W. First St., Battle Ground.

Donations from community members paid for the memorial, which includes a bench, landscaping and a plaque that reads: “In Memory of Officer Michael Molzahn, Hire Date: March 21, 2000, End of Watch: July 3, 2011.”

Around 35 people attended the dedication which was designed for the Molzahn family, donors and city staff.

Chief Bob Richardson said the memorial is a peaceful place for reflection.

Molzahn’s father, Richard, unveiled the plaque and reflected on his son’s commitment to and affection of the Battle Ground Police Department and community.
