Restraining order violation suspect kills himself near Battle Ground

Deputies on scene attempt to interviene

A man who was reportedly violating a restraining order at a home near Battle Ground on Wednesday morning stabbed himself to death in front of deputies on the scene, officials said.

Deputies from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a restraining order violation in progress at 9406 N.E. 219th St. near Battle Ground around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The man started stabbing himself in front of deputies, said sheriff’s Cmdr. Mike Cooke.

Deputies tried to intervene, but the man’s injuries were fatal. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Cooke said.

Detectives from the major crimes unit and Battle Ground Police Department responded to take over the investigation.

The deceased man’s name was not released, Cooke said.

County property records indicate the home is owned by Ruth Berry.
