Two men had to be hospitalized Wednesday after a dispute over a woman led one of the men to pull out a knife, police said.

Around 4:30 p.m., Matthew Walters, Brian Corey and Cameron Peterson were in a car getting onto I-5 south at Dike Access Road near Woodland, police said.

According to a release from the Woodland police department, Peterson was driving while Corey and Walters argued over a girl.

“At some point, a knife was pulled out and a physical fight ensued,” police said.

Walters was sent to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with stab wounds that were serious but not life-threatening.

Walters was listed in satisfactory condition Thursday, hospital spokesman Ken Cole said.

Corey was treated for a severe cut on his hand and was released from the hospital.

Deputies with Cowlitz and Clark counties were helping with the investigation.

No arrests have been made at this time and it is unclear if the case will be referred to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for a determination of criminal charges, police said.
