NEW YORK (AP) — David Beckham has been selected for the MLS Best XI for the first time, joining Los Angeles Galaxy teammates Landon Donovan, Omar Gonzalez and Todd Dunivant.

In the final season of a $32.5 million, five-year contract, Beckham set his MLS highs in starts (26) and assists (15) as the Galaxy finished with the league’s best regular-season record.

French forward Thierry Henry also made the list after scoring 14 goals for the New York Red Bulls in his first full MLS season.

Donovan was selected for the fourth straight time and fifth overall after scoring a team-high 12 goals for the Galaxy. Gonzalez made the list for the second consecutive year.

Midfielders Brek Shea of Dallas and Brad Davis of Houston were first-time picks

Seattle’s Kasey Keller, in his final season before retirement, was the top goalkeeper. Others picked were Real Salt Lake defender Jamison Olave, D.C. United midfielder Dwayne De Rosario and San Jose forward Chris Wondolowski.
