CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Anthony Raffa scored 17 points to lead four players in double figures for Coastal Carolina, which started quickly and finished the same way in a 96-54 victory Friday night over Covenant College.

The Chanticleers opened with a 9-2 run and led 48-31 at halftime.

A pair of Coastal Carolina turnovers to start the second half helped Covenant get within 13 with 17:47 left, but that was as close as they would come the rest of the way.

The Chanticleers held the Scots without a field goal for an 8:38 stretch of the second half and finished the game with a 44-15 run.

Jon Pack had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Coastal Carolina, which went 28-5 last season and was the Big South Conference regular-season champion. Sam McLaurin added 11 points and Chris Gradnigo 10 for the Chanticleers.

Zarome Lakey scored 12 points to lead Covenant, a Division III team.
