FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Wes Eikmeier scored 21 points, including 10-for-10 free throw shooting, as Colorado State held off Montana 64-58 in a season opener Friday night.

Pierce Hornung had his second career double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Rams, who had a decided rebounding advantage at 43-24 and made 22 of 29 free throws.

Kareem Jamar led the Grizzlies with 12 points. Will Cherry and Art Steward had 11 each for Montana, which played without 7-foot center Derek Selvig, out with a sprained left ankle.

Cherry brought Montana within 61-58 with a jump shot, and the Grizzlies forced a miss by Dorian Green with 55 seconds left. But Hornung tipped the ball back to Eikmeier.

Eikmeier was fouled and made both free throws with 32 seconds remaining to make it 63-58. Mike Weisner missed a 3-pointer before Greg Smith, who had 14 points, sealed it with a free throw.
