NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Justin Glenn had 16 points to lead five Lipscomb players in double-figure scoring as the Bison crushed Division II Fort Valley State 96-53 on Friday night.
Zavion Williams scored 14 points, Deonte Alexander 12, Robert Boyd 11 and Carter Sanderson 10 in Lipscomb’s season-opening win.
Fort Valley State jumped out to a 4-2 lead early, but Williams hit a jumper that started a 35-5 run from that juncture to blow the game wide open. The Bison led by 34 at the break and outscored Fort Valley State 41-32 in the second half to seal it.
The Bison shot 53 percent (35 of 66) from the floor compared to just a 37.5 mark (21 of 56) for Fort Valley State. They also hit 6 of 17 from beyond the arc, while Fort Valley State shot 2 of 19 on 3-pointers.
Corey Hunter scored 16 points to lead Fort Valley State.
