Norfolk State beats Morgan State 47-14

BALTIMORE (AP) — Norfolk State clinched its first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship in its final regular-season game with a 47-14 win over Morgan State on Saturday

Chris Walley passed for 187 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score for the Spartans (9-2, 7-1), who have qualified for the Football Championship Subdivision tournament for the first time. It was the Spartans’ fifth straight win over Morgan State (5-5, 4-3).

Norfolk State led 20-14 at halftime and put the game away with 17 points in the first 5 minutes of the second half.

Randy Maynes scored on a 56-yard run on the Spartans’ first play in the third quarter. Norfolk State got a field goal with 10:50 left in the third, then recovered a fumble at the Morgan State 1-yard line on the ensuing kickoff. Walley scored two plays later.

Seth Higgins passed for 131 yards and a touchdown for the Bears.
