CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Laurent Rivard scored 16 points as Harvard cruised to a 76-49 win over MIT on Friday night to extend its home winning streak to 18 games in the season opener for both teams.

The Crimson’s run is tied for the 10th longest active streak in the country.

Rivard was 4 of 6 from beyond the arc for Harvard, while Keith Wright added 13 points, Oliver McNally scored 12 and Kyle Casey chipped in 11.

The Engineers trailed 13-12 with 11:37 left in the first half, then the Crimson used a 9-0 run to pull away.

The Division III Engineers had 22 turnovers, compared to only six for Harvard.

The Crimson, who won their first Ivy League title and claimed a school-record 23 victories last season, have won the last nine meetings between the schools.

Will Tashman led MIT with 16 points and 11 rebounds and Noel Hollingsworth had 10 points.
