Robert Morris rolls over Rider 83-57

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (AP) — Coron Williams scored a career-high 28 points as Robert Morris routed Rider 83-57 on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.

It was Williams’ fifth straight game in double figures dating back to last season.

Anthony Myers added 14 points, Brandon Herman had 11 and Velton Jones had 10 for the Colonials, who have not lost a home opener since 1997. The win was only the third for Robert Morris in 11 meetings in the series.

Williams made 11 of 20 field goal attempts including 5 of 11 from 3-point range. The Colonials shot 46.3 percent (31 of 67) and 42.3 percent (11 of 26) from 3-point range.

Rider led early 9-8 before the Colonials went on a 32-7 run, including a 13-0 burst to get things started, for a 40-16 lead with 1:28 to play in the first half.

Anthony Miles scored 20 points to lead Rider.
