SAN DIEGO (AP) — Kenny James ran for a touchdown, Mason Mills threw for another and San Diego’s defense had five interceptions in a 13-7 win over Marist on Saturday.

Playing in a driving rainstorm, both teams struggled to establish their offenses on a muddy field. San Diego (8-2, 6-1 Pioneer) gained just 145 yards in total offense, while the Red Foxes (4-7, 3-5) had 203. The teams combined to punt 17 times.

James scored on a 1-yard run late in the first quarter. Mills, passing 6 for 14 for 68 yards, threw an 8-yard TD pass to Brandon White for a 13-0 lead in the second quarter after the second of five interceptions thrown by Tommy Reilly.

Reilly hit Anthony Calcagni with a 27-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter to cut the Toreros’ lead to 13-7. But Reilly, who finished 13 of 41 for 170 yards, threw two fourth-quarter interceptions.
