CLINTON, Wash. (AP) — Three young men are dead and a teenage girl injured after a fiery car crash on Whidbey Island.

KOMO-TV reports that according to investigators the 17-year-old girl was driving when the car veered off the roadway, struck a tree and burst into flames just after 12 a.m. Saturday. Her three passengers — men ages 19, 20 and 22 — were killed.

Witnesses pulled the girl from the car. She was taken to Whidbey General Hospital.

The state patrol says alcohol is believed to have been a factor and the driver will be booked into the Island County Jail for investigation of vehicular homicide when she is released from the hospital.
