LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Scotus overcame trouble in the second turn before drawing away to a 3 3-4 length win in Sunday’s featured race for 3-year-olds and up at Churchill Downs.

With Manny Cruz aboard, the 3-year-old son of Successful Appeal covered the 1 1-16 miles on the main track in 1:45.82 and returned $3.40, $2.40 and $2.20 as the betting favorite. Wealth To Me was second and paid $6.20 and $4. Isthmus paid $3.20 to show.

Owned by Peter Callahan and trained by Ken McPeek, Scotus earned $30,000 for the win, increasing his career total to $170,454. Scotus previously won the Grade 3 Matt Winn at Churchill Downs in June.
